The Name of the Wind is a fantasy novel written by Patrick Rothfuss. The first book in The Kingkiller Chronicle tells the story of Kvothe, an innkeeper who goes by the name of Kote to hide his true identity. As the story unfolds, Kvothe recounts his past to a man known as “the Chronicler,” who has persuaded him to share his story.
